Now THAT is dedication to your yoga practice. We were so inspired by Carolyn’s enthusiasm, that we just had to ask her to be a guest blogger. Here is what she wrote:
“I had taken yoga classes on and off in college but was never very dedicated to the practice. After college there are more responsibilities (and stress!). I hadn’t been to a yoga class in almost a year when I came to the UPY open house. I was unsure of what to expect and was figuring I might come once in awhile. However, I left the class feeling very relaxed. I went to another class and have not stopped. Yoga grounded me and gave me a feeling of calmness.
I had been to various studios in the past but some of those studios were a bit intimidating or even a bit pretentious. Even though I was just starting to practice again, I have felt completely welcomed and accepted at UPY since my first class.
The instructors I have encountered have been amazing. They are able to give individual attention to students without making a person feel criticized. They are extremely knowledgeable (and friendly and easy to talk to as well!).
The other students I have met at the studio are also very friendly and genuinely nice people. There has been no judgment felt during classes at all.
The more I go, the more I just want to keep going. I fell in love with yoga! It was like something clicked and I wondered why I haven’t been practicing all along. While I used to think of yoga as a good workout (and it is!), I am now learning to appreciate the other benefits of yoga and how yoga can help you have more focus, acceptance, calmness, patience, etc. in your everyday life.
I have been practicing almost everyday since the studio opened. I hope I am able to practice yoga for many years as it has recently become a very important part of my life and something I am very grateful to have in my life!”
