“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” – Thoreau
Hi Everyone – I want to take a minute to introduce myself. Universal Power Yoga is a long time dream of mine, and it is finally becoming a reality. I am so grateful to my family, friends, fellow teachers and the community for the endless support as we launch our Grand Opening this Saturday!
How it All Started:
In 2007, I was pushing myself too hard. I was working a full time consulting job in Boston and pursuing my MBA, while also training for a marathon. During this time, my parents were going through a divorce. I felt exhausted, stressed out, and off balance. I started doing some yoga stretches at home. One day, I mustered up the confidence to go to a hot vinyasa yoga studio in Newton, and never looked back.
I walked out of that first class feeling so much better. I didn’t know all the poses, but it didn’t matter. All I knew was that I felt stronger and more relaxed. Yoga gave me an opportunity to move, sweat, and be inspired, without any competitiveness or expectations. It was a place I could go where I didn’t need to think so much. It gave me a chance to move my body in a supported and safe way. I quickly realized that anyone can benefit from a practice that gives their mind and body what it needs. It’s different for everyone, and that is why it works. It’s that simple.
I completed my 200-hour teacher training with Prana Power Yoga in 2010. Since then, I completed Advanced Yoga Teacher Trainings with Jacqui Bonwell (The Yoga Shala, Canton, MA) and South Boston Yoga, Kids Yoga Training and other workshops. In addition, I have a dedicated self-study of yoga including anatomy, health benefits, and the history and evolvement of the yoga practice. I am a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance.
I practice yoga every day. It helps me focus on the important things and not worry so much about everything else. It has complimented other fitness activities I do, helped me grow as a businesswoman, and has enriched my life in every way possible. I am a happier, more calm, and more grateful person. I wholeheartedly believe that yoga is a practice that is accessible to everyone and can better the lives of those who practice it. My mission with this studio is to enhance the lives of others and to make this world a better place for current and future generations.
